I am now 83, having been born in 1928. My grandmother, whom I remember well and loved greatly was born in 1872 and from the childhood memories she shared with me, I remember particularly vividly her account of the dental booths on the market square in Northampton – where the townsfolk stood, jeering and laughing at the screams of those having dental treatment.
Matters had improved immeasurably by the time my wife and I were children, but we nonetheless (and with reason) remember our dental appointments in the nineteen thirties as occasions to be dreaded.
There is a lovely passage in the General Thanksgiving of the Church of England in which the Almighty is thanked for ‘our creation, preservation and all the blessings of this life’; and high among the latter, for all of us, must be the advances in dentistry which have been made in the past few decades; and my Colette and I know of nowhere where these blessings may be more completely experienced than in the dental practice of Dr. Amir Moughadam.
But even so, as the song would have it, ‘It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it’. The real secret of Amir’s success is the love – there is no other word for it – with which he treats his patients. All his patients.
And (which is of course is the case in every enterprise) the outfit takes its tone from the top. From the moment one phones the practice or enters the front door, one is aware that one matters – not so much as potential dental case, but as a person with a dental problem – which attitude, alas, is a rare commodity found nowadays in any field. Before, during and after the process of two implants, I was kept informed, concerning what was going on – what to expect and after care. When first entering the surgery I was a little worried, although when seeing Amir, the consultant and nurses however, I was soon at ease. Under a local anaesthetic, pain was never felt during or after the procedure – obviously I felt a bit ‘uncomfortable’; but knew it would all be worth it. It is a wonderful feeling having my new teeth in situ and I can smile with confidence. Everything is new, clean and a friendly professional service is always given. I cannot sing your praises enough and feel 110% ready to recommend both the implant service and the practice.

Just dropping you a line to say thank you so much for all the time and effort you have spent on my implants. I must admit the thought of having four implants at one go made me rather nervous, but your excellent team made two hours fly by. To be honest the fear was much worse than the reality, I could eat very well the next day, no swelling. When you put the finished crowns on the implants, fantastic, freedom to eat without worry again, very comfortable and no pain. They look very natural and after a couple of days it felt they had been there forever. A lot of people will say implants are expensive, they are, but to my mind worth every penny, a truly life changing experience.
